Forklifts and loaders for ports and terminals

Port work is measured in cycles and tonnage, not in pallets. The machine is chosen on duty cycle, berth width and salt exposure.

What decides the machine here

Duty cycle

Container stuffing runs the hydraulics continuously. A truck rated for intermittent duty will overheat by mid-shift; the oil cooler is the specification that matters.

Salt and humidity

Standard paint fails at the mast and the chassis seams within two years. Specify a marine paint schedule and stainless fasteners.

Ground

Concrete aprons take solid tyres; intermodal yards with broken surface need pneumatic. The same truck is not correct for both.

Load density

Steel coil and paper pulp are dense loads at short centres. Check residual capacity at the actual load centre, not the rated plate figure.

Models that work in this environment

The mistake we see most

Comparing hourly fuel cost while ignoring tyre life. Port tyres on abrasive concrete are often the largest single maintenance line, and a cheaper truck with a lighter axle eats them faster.

Describe the site, not the machine

Ground surface, aisle or gate width, lift height, hours per shift, destination port. We answer with the model and the reason.
